District T-Shirts ON SALE NOW!

2017 Season is a GO!

I am looking forward to a GREAT 2017 season. I will be making a few changes this year. I am working on finalizing the 2017 schedule; I will include the tentative schedule below. I am doing my best to schedule around other races and associations. Most of the 2017 races will be scheduled for Saturdays with a few Sunday races.

Here are a few of the changes I will be making for the 2017 season:

  • Awards Nomination Fees will be $50per member for Open & Youth
  • Award Nomination Fees will be $35per member for all other classes (PeeWee, Futurity, Derby, Seniors, Poles)

This fee must be paid to be eligible for year-end awards. Fees will be due at the first barrel race in 2017. Points will NOT count until your award nomination fees are paid.

  • We Will no longer have the “Adult Side Pot”
  • We will have 2D Pole Bending Following Youth at Every Race
  • We will have 2D Futurity and 2D Derby Side Pots in 2017

Looking back to races that were held in 2016, I do not believe that the Adult Side Pot is benefiting the district due to the low amount of entries.

I look forward to adding Pole Bending to each show, Poles will be paid in a 2D format and we will award year-end awards for poles as well. Poles will be an OPEN class with no age limits.

Futurity and Derby horses have become more popular in the last few years. It is a very humbling experience attempting to season young horses. Futurity and Derby will only be carry over’s from the open class. You will have to pay the award nomination fee to be eligible for yearend awards. Points are based on a 2D full second split for futurity divisions. Derby points are based on a 2D half second split.

Points in all classes and divisions are awarded to the rider EXCEPT the Futurity & Derby classes You must also submit a copy of horse’s registration papers for Futurity and Derby classes.

I want to give our members as many opportunities as possible in 2017.
I think this is a huge bonus co sanctioning with these other great associations BRF, UBRA, BBR, and WPRA. It is NOT required for any members to purchase memberships in these other associations but it is an option.
